Job Description

Responsible for coordination, development, and evaluation of the Toronto Metropolitan University Pwaaganigaawin (Pow Wow). The gathering is hosted at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) on Friday, September 13, 2024. Located on the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat nations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate event scheduling
  • Coordinate volunteers to assist with all aspects of the event
  • Delivery and coordination of the cultural event
  • Supporting community and partner outreach
  • Report to TMU Manager of Indigenous Events & Special Projects on a weekly basis
  • Performs other duties assigned

Qualifications

  • Familiar with Toronto Metropolitan University and community
  • Experience with coordination/event planning
  • Excellent organizational skills, communication skills, oral and written
  • Event and project management skills
  • Experience with mentoring youth and others
  • Working knowledge of computers (ie. Microsoft Word)
  • Postsecondary degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with urban Indigenous communities
  • Understanding of Indigenous culture, teachings, Pow Wow protocols
  • Eligible to register with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training

Wages:

$22/hr at 25 hours/week Duration: Until September 20, 2024

Location:

Remote (Hybrid flexible)
