Candidate requirements

  • Aboriginal Ancestry (Status, Non-Status, Inuit, or Métis)
  • Enrollment in a 2023-2024 post-secondary institution (University, College, Apprenticeship program).
  • Resident of the Greater Toronto Area during the Academic School year

Application deadline

February 29, 2024 at Noon

  • Please note: This is a firm deadline – any application received after Noon on February 29, 2024 will not be reviewed. 
  • All applications must be dropped off in-person at Miziwe Biik
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered, it is your responsibility to ensure all documents are provided

FAQ

Your letter of introduction should be one page in length and include the following information:

  • Tell us about yourself
  • Tell us why you are passionate about your field of study
  • Tell us about your goals regarding your future career and employment
  • Tell us if you participate in a Native Community – where you are originally from or here in Toronto
  • Tell us anything else that will show your dedication to your field of study and future endeavours
  • Students:

In order to apply to the bursary program, you must be a current post-secondary student, please submit proof of enrollment from a college or university.

  • Apprentices:

In order to qualify for a bursary as an apprentice, you must be a registered with the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU) as an apprentice in the Greater Toronto Area.

1) Please download all forms in the ‘Application Checklist’ above.

2) Fill out all information carefully, and attach all required documentation to your application.

3) Drop off complete package in person at the Miziwe Biik office by February 29, 2024, at 12:00 Noon. Any applications received after Noon on February 29, 2024, will not be reviewed.

4) Incomplete applications will not be considered, it is your responsibility to ensure all documents are provided.
