Company Description

The Toronto Green Community (TGC) is a charitable organization with over 25 years of experience in addressing environmental issues through community engagement and the development of numerous grassroots initiatives. Our mission is to inspire, facilitate and support diverse communities in developing an environmentally sustainable city through education, engagement and joint neighbourhood initiatives. TGC is home to established programs such as Lost Rivers and the Eglinton Park Community Garden, and operates as an incubator for emerging community-based programs (Rivers Rising) and social enterprises (RAINscapeTO).

More About Our Programs:

RAINscapeTO: A social enterprise providing employment and training for Indigenous people, and highlighting Indigenous knowledge in earth-friendly landscaping.

GreenForceTO: maintains green infrastructure in spaces such as plant beds and tree trenches in sidewalks, medians and traffic islands in the roadway.

Eglinton Park Community Garden: Brings diverse urban dwellers together to grow food ecologically, increases pollinator habitats and offers Indigenous programming emerging from the Medicine Wheel Garden.

Lost Rivers: Community-based walks and citizen research that has created a deep reservoir of online information about Toronto’s lost rivers, historical ecosystems and communities.

Rivers Rising: A community development project, connecting Indigenous, immigrant and settler communities through workshops, walking tours, and arts-related activities.
