 We are hiring a Senior Director of Communications!!

 Benefits Package: Full Extended Health & Dental, Life Insurance, EAP, STD, LTD, & Pension Plan. Generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and personal days after the waiting period.

 Salary: The salary range for this role is $114,800 – $155,300 per annum. Candidate experience will be considered when determining the starting salary.

 Location:   The home office is located at 1101 Nicholson Rd, Unit 5, Newmarket, Ontario however due to the nature of this role, candidates will be required to attend events in and around York Region and South Simcoe.

 Job Profile

The Senior Director of Communications will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the communications department, including providing strategic communications advice to the CEO and Board of Directors.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Director of Communications provides communications guidance on groundbreaking projects and programs in the mental health arena, develops and implements communication strategies, and takes on the daily responsibilities of overseeing the department, including setting budgets and working collaboratively with Senior Leaders to meet program objectives.

 Scope

Internal: Work closely with the Executive Management Team to develop communications plans for key internal initiatives and change management programs; Assess and develop continuous improvement approaches for internal communication; Together with the Communication Coordinator, manage and keep up-to-date internal channels including intranet and bi-weekly newsletter, manage senior leadership video updates and support internal events.

 External: Strategically advise on issues management that develops and maintains a successful presence in the media; Build and maintain CMHA-YRSS’s reputation in the communities we serve and beyond; Work with and influence government representatives and funders to support CMHA’s mental health program objectives; Together with the Communications Coordinator, work to enhance CMHA’s social media presence and audience engagement.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement an integrated communication strategy with specific KPIs
  • Develop and implement communication plans for key organization programs, projects, and events
  • Work with media, government, community partners, and other stakeholders to build and enhance the reputation of CMHA-YRSS and support the attainment of organizational objectives
  • Is familiar with communication standards and best practices that support diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and reconciliation
  • Provide strategic guidance to the CEO, Board of Directors, Leadership Team, program leads, and others as appropriate
  • Other reports and documents as required by the role or at the direction of the CEO

 Education, Designations, and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Communication or a related field

 Previous Experience

  • At least 10 years working in the communication field
  • Experience in developing, evaluating, planning, and implementing strategies and measuring strategic communication impact
  • Successful background in advising executive-level stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in managing teams
  • Demonstrated experience with communication practices that enable equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and reconciliation
  • Experience with issues management communications and stakeholder relations
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and measure performance-focused communication strategies
  • Social Media, Website and External Newsletters
  • Advertising and Marketing Campaign Management
  • Internal Communications Strategies
  • Media Relations
  • Knowledge of mental health, health care or social services will be well regarded

 Working Conditions:  This role works extensively at a desk using a computer and telephone for up to 7 hours per day in a standard open office setting.  Weekend and evening hours may be required.
