Work Status: Part-time
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)
About the Role:
640 Toronto Radio has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Radio Technical Producer to join their team, based out of their Toronto office. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical operation of programming and includes the production of live and recorded daily talk shows and features, paid programming, podcasting, and audio production.
You will contribute by:
- Technical operation of 640 Toronto’s master control board, MediaTouch and Burli during live, local and network talk shows, including controlling mic levels, phone calls, imaging elements, commercials, and all other audio sources during the course of a show.
- Knowledge of MediaTouch, and the ability to set up a studio and prepare log for broadcast.
- Collaborate with show producer and host for content.
- Collaborate with other producers on story development and dialogue.
- Collaborate with the Newsroom on breaking news execution.
- Edit and upload show audio, features and other programming as needed.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in a Radio Broadcasting program preferred (graduated or currently enrolled).
- Candidates with production experience and above average audio skills preferred – Adobe, Protools, etc.
- A deep understanding of Media Touch and Burli, as well as technical/computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to anticipate and quickly react to an on-air situation.
- A creative thinker who enhances on air programming with appropriate music and sound effects in a timely manner.
- Demonstrable passion for the news/talk radio format, and the desire to work in the radio broadcasting industry.
- The ability to multitask, communicate, stay calm, and trouble shoot in high pressure & evolving situations.
- Familiarity/knowledge of CRTC guidelines and regulations.
- Have a keen sense of heightened sensitivities in today’s world.
- Display respect in the workplace, commit to and uphold the values of civilized and informed discourse.
- Knowledge/awareness of current, ongoing, and past events.
- To be a friendly, positive, team player with acute attention to detail with intermediate math skills.
- Access to a vehicle is recommended for early starting shifts and/or late ending shifts and flexible schedule.
