POSITION SUMMARY:
Join Our Team as an Electrical Instrumentation Service Technician and Power Up Your Career Today! Reporting to the Supervisor, Field Services East, the Field Services Technician Electrical/Instrumentation is a critical resource of TNPI’s Field Services team. This role is accountable for ensuring the integrity, safety, operations and reliability of TNPI’s various Pipeline Facilities, Control Systems and Measurement Equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform operation, testing, electrical and instrumentation maintenance as well as repair of Fire Detection Systems, Fire Water Systems, Fire Foam Systems and fixed Gas Detection Systems.
- Perform testing, calibration, repair and replacement of control equipment end-devices.
- Perform maintenance and repair of Communication / Security Systems, Hydraulic / Air Operated Actuators and various Instrumentation End-devices.
- Maintenance of low and medium voltage electrical equipment and process control equipment.
- Develop and issue Safe Work Permits (SWP’s) to Contractors for various scopes of work.
- Recommend and install new equipment under the guidance of risk assessment, management of change (MOC) systems and the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Participate in the completion of critical and non-critical Preventative Maintenance (PM’s), test reliability and accuracy of process equipment, determine and initiate adjustments or repairs as required.
- Ensure close-out of applicable Maintenance Routes and Work Orders.
- Inspect and maintain various pipelines and Facility Security Measures, including but not limited to fencing, gates, building doors / windows and security cameras.
- On-call support for daily operations, right of way management and emergency response.
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership in inspection, identification, and response to daily operations safety issues.
- Support operations and engineering projects for process and equipment improvements which includes supervising and directing contractors and making sure TNPI processes and procedures are always followed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
- 4-5 years related work experience in heavy industrial and process environments; preference will be given to those with experience in oil and gas environments such as pipeline and refinery.
- Industrial Electrician (442A) or Construction and Maintenance (309A) Interprovincial Red Seal certification. Preference will be given to individuals who also hold the following certification: Instrumentation and Control Technician (447A).
- Competent and comfortable working with high voltage switchgear and equipment, preference will be given to those who have experience and are skilled in high voltage maintenance and safe work practices including voltages 5kV, 25kV and 44kV.
- Strong knowledge and experience working with and troubleshooting motor control systems.
- Hands on experience working with large motors, valves, actuators, and instrumentation including but not limited to pressure transmitters, densitometers, and turbine meters.
- Strong working knowledge of PLC’s and how they integrate into control systems.
- Strong computer skills are required, must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record.

Preference for:
- Basic Knowledge of SCADA applications and industrial communication protocols.
- Knowledge and experience working with Profibus.
- Arc flash awareness training and knowledge of CSA Z462.
- Incident Command System (ICS) level 100 trained.
- Knowledge of Work Order (WO) management systems (SAP, IFS, etc.).

- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the possibility for extended work hours based on business needs.
