Job Description
Tyndale is a Christian university that prepares leaders for work in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, ministry and the global mission of the church. Tyndale offers fully accredited programs in a wide range of disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Currently, there are over 1,600 students representing over 40 denominations and 60 ethnic backgrounds and over 13,000 alumni. Founded in 1894, Tyndale is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Tyndale University invites candidates to apply for a full-time, tenure track faculty position at the seminary.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Development Officer cultivates and solicits current and deferred gifts from existing donors and new prospects. The Development Officer’s overall commitment is to build and deepen relationships on behalf of Tyndale and to meet mutually agreed upon fundraising goals towards the institution’s annual fundraising targets. The majority of the Development Officer’s time is spent out of the office with active, lapsed and prospective donors.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Â
Donor Portfolio Management
- Research, develop and implement mutually agreed upon fundraising plans and goals in order to meet Tyndale’s fundraising targets.
- Manage, engage, cultivate and steward a portfolio of new and existing donors and gift prospects including mid-level, major and planned gifts.
- Ensure effective donor retention and recognition.
- Research and prepare briefing documents, and related material for soliciting gifts.
- Record, schedule and track accurate donor information/activity in the External Relations database.
- Provide regular performance reports to the Director, External Relations.
 External Relations Team Participation
- Serve as a contributing member of the External Relations team.
- Become familiar with Tyndale and the products that offered.
- Be well-versed in department goals.
- Participate in staff meetings.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
    a) Education
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), an asset
b) Â Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fundraising, annual funds, capital campaigns and successful gift solicitations at the major and principal gift level, preferably within a post-secondary education setting and/or not-for-profit organization
c) Â Skills and Abilities
- Strong inter-personal and customer service skills with ability to be persuasive, professional advocate for the organization
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet frequent deadlines
- Understanding of fundraising database systems (e.g. Raisers Edge)
- Basic computer skills, ability to use inter/search engines, computer programs/applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

e) Â Physical and Mental Demands
- Standard office work environment
- Moderate – high level of stress. May result from multiple project revenue targets and deadlines; demands of senior management
- Light physical demands including travel by car to donor appointments and events
- Travel required on a regular basis
- Work outside normal business hours required to meet the needs of donors
Duties and responsibilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor either orally or in writing.
Salary Range:Â $44,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience.
