Introduction:
We are working closely with an elementary school in Brampton, ON who has identified a desire for intersectional pollinator education delivered by folks whom their students can identify with. This project has grown out of our understanding that:
- Students deserve to see environmental leaders, local advocates, and role models who look like them.
- Youth deserve to have a meaningful relationship with nature.
- Equity-deserving communities contribute the least to the climate crisis yet experience the greatest impacts.
- Equity-deserving communities have been systemically and socially excluded from the environmental sector.
Job Purpose:
- To provide the space and capacity for two environmental educators from equity-deserving communities to contribute to climate justice work on their own terms, serve as role models, and engage directly with youth.
- To empower students with the tools, knowledge, and safe space needed to develop a love for and relationship with Mother Nature and to understand that everything is connected.
