Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support our Fixed Asset, Accounts Payable and general accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

** This is a contract position for a 14-month period

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fixed Asset Accounting
• Assists with Fixed Asset Accounting transaction analysis and follow-ups on project status with Project Managers
• Completes the annual update of the Fixed Asset Subledger

Accounts Payable
• Verifies invoices are calculated properly against approved rate schedules, purchase orders, quotations, progress payments, contracts and general policies
• Accurately inputs invoices in the IFS ERP system ensuring transactions are charged to the correct accounts, sales taxes are recorded accurately, and invoices are properly routed for approval in accordance with Company Authorities
• Reconciles supplier statements
• Prepares Month end Accruals

Employee Expense Processing
• Reviews and posts expense reports and ensures proper completion and that are expenses adhere to corporate policies
• Communicates with employees/leaders where clarifications or corrections are required
• Escalates policy violations and non-compliance as required
• Prepares Journal Entries to adjust expense report coding as required

General Accounting and Other
• Supports internal and external audit reviews
• Other tasks/assignments as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
• 2 years of proven experience in an Accounting role with Fixed Asset or Accounts Payable experience and ERP system knowledge.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent education.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with demonstrated analytical and mathematical skills.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
• Intermediate to advanced experience with MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preference for:
• Enrolled in Chartered Professional Accountant Program or Chartered Professional Accountant.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Bilingual (English and French) – please submit your resume in English.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
• TNPI offers a flexible work policy that allows for hybrid or remote work arrangements. Employees who are permitted to work a flexible work arrangement, will be required to attend the physical office location in Richmond Hill, located at 310-45 Vogell Road occasionally, as required.
