Are you a skilled negotiator with a passion for making a real impact in health care? We’re looking for someone to lead important negotiations with Health Service Providers in Ontario. As the Team Lead, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping health care policies and achieving positive outcomes from complex negotiations. Your leadership will extend to guiding our team, offering valuable policy insights, and collaborating with senior decision-makers to ensure the agreements we reach are successfully put into action. About Us

The Physician and Provider Services Division (PPSD) is accountable for policy development, negotiations, and mediation or arbitration, where applicable, and the implementation of agreements between government and certain health care provider associations. The division recently modernized its organizational structure to better align with their business objectives and is looking for new staff who are ready to learn and are passionate about contributing to the lives of Ontarians through the work we do.

The Provider Negotiations Management Branch is a new branch, created to lead the negotiations process for the ministry with health care providers, including the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), the Association of Ontario Midwives, the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the Ontario Dental Association.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

  • Lead high-profile, intricate multi-party negotiations with Health Service Providers in Ontario
    • Provide leadership in developing policy, and providing advice and support to senior-level decision-makers
    • Provide expertise and advice on strategy, program development and governance policy issues related to negotiation frameworks
    • Provide team leadership to staff engaged in negotiations, policy/research projects, policy/program analysis, preparation of issues management materials, and project-related functions
    • Lead and manage diverse and controversial policy issues

How do I qualify?

Leadership and Project Management Skills

  • You have experience providing project leadership in program or policy development, delivery, and implementation.
    • You can provide guidance, training and coaching to team members.
    • You can successfully lead projects from initial concept through to completion within specific timelines.

Negotiation, Consultation and Relationship Management Skills

  • You have experience leading multi-stakeholder negotiations.
    • You can facilitate resolution of contentious issues by working collaboratively with stakeholders.
    • You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity.
    • You have expertise in creating and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
    • You can lead engagements and consultations with stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding.

Research, Analytical and Evaluation Skills

  • You have experience leading complex research and analysis.
    • You can assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against ministry initiatives and goals.
    • You have skill in interpreting and applying relevant policy, procedures and legislation, including developing policy in relation to programs, services and legislation.

Communication Skills

  • You can effectively create, lead and present briefings on complex negotiations analysis to senior management.
    • You have verbal communication skills to effectively convey ministry perspectives during engagements and negotiations, and clearly address challenging issues that arise.
    • You can communicate with sensitivity and empathy in challenging discussions.

Salary Range: $82,215 – $119,496 Per Year
