Location: Toronto, (Temporarily Remote)
20 Richmond Street East, suite #600, Toronto, ON M5C 2R9
Reports to: Programming Manager, Development Director, Executive Director
Starts: Immediately
Compensation: $40,194 ($22/hr)

Job Description:
Candidates MUST reside in the GTA and identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit. Reelworld is seeking a creative, competent individual who is passionate about media arts and the Canadian
film industry to join our team as a Film Programmer Trainee. In this position, you will be working at all levels to ensure the success of our annual Reelworld Film Festival.
This position is based on a grant; the candidate MUST be First Nation, Métis or Inuit.
Film Programmer Trainee Duties:
● Use FilmFreeway to screen submitted films and use contacts within the industry to search out new films
● Recommend films to the relevant Lead Programmer according to established judging protocol
● Become familiar with invited films (must screen all invited films), including the companies attached and the guests that will be attending the Festival
● Compose an introductory letter inviting filmmakers and their guests to the Festival
● Introduce films and moderate Q&As, as directed
● Attend Festival Programming meetings when required and requested by the Senior Manager of
Festival Programming
● Support all activities leading up to the festival
● Assist in year round programming
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate MUST reside in the GTA and identify as First Nation, Métis or Inuit.
● Good understanding of the local and global filmmaking community and industry.
● Experience programming or curating for film festivals or arts organizations, or relative experience may be considered.
● Must demonstrate the ability to take initiative and show good judgment
● Ability to navigate through social media platforms, conduct film research and develop relationships with filmmakers
