Job Description

We are seeking Indigenous applicants for the Community Health Worker Training Program.

This full-time, 12-month program is hosted by Anishnawbe Health Toronto, in partnership with George Brown College and Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment & Training.  Students take a selection of courses for 3 terms which are 4-months each.  The students also complete field placement hours throughout the year.  To begin, the program will be online courses and eventually move to in-person classes during the year.  Successful completion of this training program leads to a George Brown certificate and the qualifications to enter the second year of the two-year Community Worker Diploma Program.

Who should apply?

  • Applicants who are eligible for funding from Miziwe Biik
  • Writing level of about Grade 9 or 10 (Ontario) Applied or Academic
  • Have left school for reasons beyond their control
  • Little / no experience in the social work field (or have demonstrated reason to apply to the program)
  • Live in the Greater Toronto Area (G.T.A.)

Required for online study

  • Computer with webcam, headset/microphone
  • Good Internet Connection
