Programming Assistants (Contract Positions, September 19, 2022 – End of April 2023 TBC)

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is the largest non-profit professional arts organization in Canada. We are dedicated to recognizing, advocating for and celebrating Canadian talent in the film, television, and digital media sectors. Our more than 4,000 members encompass industry icons and professionals, emerging artists and students. The Canadian Academy is seeking multiple Programming Assistants with a background in arts administration, communications, programming and/or industry jury coordination, to assist the Programming & Awards Department in processing Canadian Screen Awards entries, arranging industry juries and membership voting for the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards, as well as assisting with box office and production tasks for Canadian Screen Week events. These positions require individuals who work well under pressure, have excellent attention to detail, strong writing and communication skills, and who excel at setting priorities, multi-tasking, and meeting tight deadlines.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in processing Canadian Screen Awards entries
  • Coordinating and arranging industry juries; writing invitations, updating and providing documentation to jury members, and coordinating individual (virtual and in-person) meetings;
  • Assisting with box office for Canadian Screen Week events;
  • Interacting with Academy Staff, Membership, Partnerships, as well as award nominees and winners and the Canadian film, television, and digital media industries at large;
  • Assisting in proofreading all Programming & Awards-related materials and lists with strong attention to detail;
  • Assisting with production tasks before and during the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards.


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivate, and multi-task;
  • Strong proficiency in MacOS, Google Workspace, and Asana environments;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial to ensure the integrity of the awards process;
  • Excellent working knowledge of relational database programs and ability to learn Academy’s platforms built in Salesforce;
  • Experience working with sensitive documents and confidential information and ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    Friendly and professional – customer service experience is an asset;
  • Available to work flexible hours on evenings and weekends, and available after-hours for questions/inquiries, if necessary;
  • Good memory for names, situations, and companies;
    Experience in meeting and event coordination is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of Canadian Screen industry (including television, film, and digital media) is considered an asset;
  • Written and verbal fluency in a French language is considered an asset.

Office hours are Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A commitment of 40 hours/week is required. Evening work will be required for special events throughout the year and during Canadian Screen Week. During this time, Canadian Academy staff members are working full-time remotely from home, but may be required to attend in-person events when needed.
