Supervisor, Projects Department

Contract Position to March 31, 2020

PURPOSE: The Supervisor, Projects Department is accountable for overseeing the planning, implementation and evaluation of the ISET (Indigenous Skills and Employment Training) program in order for Miziwe Biik to achieve its mission of providing training and employment services to the Aboriginal peoples in the Greater Toronto Area so that they in turn attain a better quality of life.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director


  • Supervise, plan, monitor and evaluate all activities of the projects team
  • Participate with the management team in the overall planning of Miziwe Biik
  • Monitor and report on budgets on an ongoing basis for all funding sources
  • Monitor statistical information from ARMS (Accountability and Resource Management System)
  • Oversee data collection and preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual statistical and activity reports for Executive Director to various funders
  • Oversee the management of project file maintenance
  • Initiate innovative community and client based employment and training projects
  • Provide on-site monitoring of all projects and compliance with project terms and conditions
  • Oversee issuing of community Call for Proposals for ISET (funding administered by Miziwe Biik)
  • Actively participate in grant-writing and fundraising as required
  • Supervise assessment and review of funding proposals
  • Ensure technical systems meet evolving requirements of Miziwe Biik
  • Provide leadership and team development to Projects Department


  • 2-3 years of supervisory or program administration experience
  • 4 years of related experience in field such as human resources, employment or training
  • Demonstrated leadership and commitment to objectives consistent with the organization’s core values
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with the Aboriginal community and organizations
  • Working knowledge of employment and training programs in the GTA
  • Demonstrated competence in working with financial reports
  • Demonstrated computer and internet technologies
  • Advanced software skills including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database
  • Proposal writing experience
